Adapting time-delay interferometry for LISA data in frequency

چکیده
Time-delay interferometry (TDI) is a post-processing technique used to reduce laser noise in heterodyne interferometric measurements with unequal armlengths, situation characteristic of space gravitational detectors such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA). This consists properly time-shifting and linearly combining order by several orders magnitude detect waves. In this communication, we show that Doppler shift due time evolution armlengths leads an unacceptably large residual when using expressed units frequency standard expressions TDI variables. Time-delay interferometry for LISA
LISA ~Laser Interferometer Space Antenna! is a mission to detect and study low-frequency cosmic gravitational radiation through its influence on the phases or frequencies of laser beams exchanged between three remote spacecraft. We previously showed how, with lasers of identical frequencies on stationary spacecraft, the measurement of twelve time series of Doppler shifts could be combined to ca...
متن کاملSynthetic Lisa: Simulating Time Delay Interferometry in a Model Lisa
Synthetic LISA, developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is a C++/Python package to simulate the LISA science process at the level of scientific and technical requirements. It generates synthetic time series of the LISA fundamental noises, as filtered through all the Time-Delay-Interferometric (TDI) observables; it provides a streamlined module to compute the TDI responses to gravitational w...
متن کاملTime Delay Interferometry and LISA Optimal Sensitivity
The sensitivity of LISA depends on the suppression of several noise sources; dominant one is laser frequency noise. It has been shown that the six Doppler data streams obtained from three space-crafts can be appropriately time delayed and optimally combined to cancel this laser frequency noise. We show that the optimal data combinations when operated in a network mode improves the sensitivity o...
متن کاملTime Delay Interferometry for LISA with one arm dysfunctional
In order to attain the requisite sensitivity for LISA a joint space mission of the ESA and NASAthe laser frequency noise must be suppressed below the secondary noises such as the optical path noise, acceleration noise etc. By combining six appropriately time-delayed data streams containing fractional Doppler shifts a technique called time delay interferometry (TDI) the laser frequency noise may...
متن کاملTime-Delay Interferometry
Equal-arm interferometric detectors of gravitational radiation allow phase measurements many orders of magnitude below the intrinsic phase stability of the laser injecting light into their arms. This is because the noise in the laser light is common to both arms, experiencing exactly the same delay, and thus cancels when it is differenced at the photo detector. In this situation, much lower lev...
